Our Shared Web Hosting Packages includes the use of a mySQL Database which has served us well and will continue to do so into the future.
However, things move forward and this version of the mySQL software is now dated and some software packages (including WordPress) now recommend a database software version newer than what we have.
So we have been working to get a new version of either mySQL or MariaDB installed.
This we have now done this and using the same hardware server we now have MariaDB version 10.13.6 running. However this will be available on port 3311 NOT 3306 which is the standard mySQL port.
We have also made both versions of mySQL available via phpMyAdmin
If you would like to start using the new version of MariaDB from within our Shared Hosting you will need to create a new Database from within the Hosting Control panel along with a new Database user.
Please note though that we have no intentions at this time to force any migrations of databases from one service to the other.
